Create a bot with BotFather
Follow these steps in Telegram. Replace screenshots later by updating images in /public/img/placeholders/.

Open Telegram on your phone or desktop.

Search for @BotFather (official Telegram bot).
Step 3
Send the command /newbot.
Step 4
Choose a display name for your bot.
Step 5
Choose a unique username that ends with "bot".
Step 6
Copy the API token BotFather gives you.
Step 7
Return to SellMateAI and paste the token on the connect page.
Step 8
Click connect — we validate the token and register your webhook.

What is a Telegram bot token?
It is a secret key that lets SellMateAI talk to the Telegram Bot API on your behalf. Anyone with the token can control your bot — treat it like a password.
Is my token secure?
We validate tokens server-side, avoid logging them, and never re-display the full token after save. Use HTTPS in production and rotate the token in BotFather if it is ever exposed.
Do I need coding skills?
No. You create the bot in Telegram, paste the token into SellMateAI, and complete the onboarding forms.
Can I change my bot later?
Yes. Generate a new token in BotFather if needed and reconnect from the integrations page.
